The BodyAmr show was a treat. My girl Kemi & I rocked up to the show and somehow managed to skip past the queue that went right round the side of the building.

Set in the grand hall of the Fashion Scout location in Covent Garden, there was a certain art deco feel to the collection. Twenties tasselled caps, velvet gowns, rich embellishment and burst of jewel like colour made this collection a treat to watch.

and we spotted a special guest in the front row…

…in the form of Amber Rose..she was mobbed! But she seemed lovely and spent ages posing for fans and chatting to people. Plus she looked hot!!

My favourite AW11 show by British designer Holly Fulton. Genius.

And check out the model whipping off the Louboutin Pigalles and strutting down the catwalk like a pro! Sooo rock ‘n’ roll. Love it.

I wish I knew who’s song this is….answers on a postcard please!

lfw ss11: krystof strozyna

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

My fashion week started off somewhat disappointingly, after one drink too many on what started off as an innocent Friday night, me and my girl Mercedes found ourselves doubled over on Saturday morning feeling very sorry for ourselves. I subsequently missed 3 shows in a row - arriving just too late to Somerset House to take my seat at John Rocha. Oh well, there’s always next season - although I did wish I saw the girls toppling over on the runway at Betty Jackson (what with Burberry that does seem to be a new trend this season). However I did make the most of my day (and my press pass) by wandering around the exhibitions where I saw some amazing pieces and spoke to the lovely designers – watch this space for posts.

Tuesday was more successful, I quick marched in my towering wedges from work down Wardour to the Vauxhall Fashion Scout venue of LFW for the Krystof Strozyna show. Suprisingly I made it on time – unsurprisingly team Strozyna was not. The show (followed by a short film of a girl with a flower…?) was a fusion of bodycon and draping. Pastel colours signalled a fresh (if somewhat unoriginal) move into the Spring. Swathes of ivory and lilac fabric encased in bone lace and sheer fabrics. Favourites included an androgynous reversed tuxedo with cigarette pants and a draped front tunic. All in all, the collection appeared somewhat flat, however the fluorescent lighting in the gallery picked it up a bit.

fashion mavericks season #1: london fashion week aw10

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

It occured to me that I haven’t posted anything about London Fashion Week. I’ve comissioned a couple of articles on it but haven’t actually put anything up myself. Although it was over a month ago (Always falls on my birthday – how apt!), that was when I f’d up my old blog and couldn’t post on it. I helped out backstage at the Fashion Mavericks presentation which was great fun and where I met some fascinating people and great talent from up & coming designers such as Saffron Knight, Kamola and Lako Bukia. I get great pleasure in discovering new designers – its necessary for the future of fashion – but they have such a hard time breaking through when the big names or celebrity “designers” (naming no names, *ahem*Nicky Hilton*ahem*) dominate the runways – whatever their ‘designs’ look like.

I spent the day running around in platforms which completely did in my feet and then had to rush home to get ready for my birthday party in the evening, where my friends arrived earlier than me…oops. I was  so exhausted, having survived only on a banana and about a gallon of Vitamin Water, courtesy of the show’s sponsors (I had to fit into my birthday outfit!). Anyway, I digress – but I just thought I’d stick up my favourite snaps of the day. Enjoy!
